Reducing Administrative Burden for Physicians
When licensing physicians, safeguards are necessary but barriers are not. The College is committed to reducing all unnecessary administrative burdens while ensuring only appropriately qualified physicians are licensed.
Once a completed application was received, in 2024 the College issued licensure within two days, well within the mandate of the Patient Access to Care Act.
…time spent by physicians on administrative matters has been reduced by tens of thousands of hours. This will benefit patients and physicians.
The College critically examined all its processes to support the work of the provincial government’s Office of Regulatory Affairs in reducing administrative burden. Through critical examination of our processes in licensing, renewal, and complaints investigation, and in collaboration with other stakeholders across the healthcare space, the Office of Regulatory Affairs acknowledged a significant reduction in administrative burden. The Office estimated that time spent by physicians on administrative matters has been reduced by tens of thousands of hours. This will benefit patients and physicians.
